British Open Golf Cruise

The British Open, or more correctly – the Open Championship – returns to the fabled links of the Ailsa Course at the Westin Turnberry Resort. This Open venue, which is on the edge of the River Clyde with a most recognizable vista to the Ailsa Craig and in the shadows of the venerable Turnberry Hotel, will doubtless host yet another memorable championship. This was the stage in 1977 for arguably the greatest 36 hole drama between two contestants in major championship golf. It was a two man showdown over the weekend between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson whose famous “duel in the sun” was settled by a single shot: Watson 65-65; Nicklaus 65-66!
Turnberry is unique among the Open rota for the broad selection of superb links found nearby. We believe we have created an enviable selection of programs which feature these various options making the 2009 Open an ideal occasion to enjoy a pilgrimage to Scotland.

Once again we are offering the British Open by Sea Golf Cruise which can be booked through GolfAhoy Cruise Planners at Toll Free 877-415-5442 or www.GolfAhoyCruisePlanners.com Our eight night cruise begins in Edinburgh, sails counter clockwise along the Scottish shoreline for five rounds of links golf and daily touring before concluding with attendance at Sunday’s final round at Turnberry. If you prefer to stay ashore, and would like to experience a major championship from the inside out, we are delighted to offer “Turnberry, Links Golf & the 138th Open" including seven nights accommodation at the hotel, five rounds plus attendance throughout Open week at your leisure. Availability is exceptionally limited, so an excellent alternative is Marine Hotel, Links Golf & the 138th Open, only 30 minutes north including play at Royal Troon and Prestwick, the original Open host, plus weeklong attendance. Those who wish to combine the Open with a visit to St Andrews will find the best of the east in either Turnberry, St Andrews, Carnoustie & the 138th Open, or St. Andrews, Carnoustie & the 138th Open.
Finally, and again with very limited availability, we are pleased to offer Ailsa after the Open providing access to the course on Tuesday the day it officially reopens after the final putt is holed in the Open. It’s a unique opportunity to try your hand at a major championship set up.
Except for the British Open by Sea, any of the programs can be customized to your preferences including the exclusive comfort and convenience of a GolfAhoy VIP Golf Coach.
