The British Open, or more correctly – the Open Championship – returns to the fabled links of the Ailsa Course at the Westin Turnberry Resort. This was the stage in 1977 for arguably the greatest 36 hole drama between two contestants in major championship golf. It was a two man showdown over the weekend between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson whose famous “duel in the sun” was settled by a single shot: Watson 65-65; Nicklaus 65-66!
